When a One-to-One Antenatal Session Might Be Right for You
When people think about antenatal classes, they often imagine signing up for a full course with a group of other pregnant parents.
And for lots of people, that’s a really lovely experience. Antenatal classes can be a great way to prepare for birth and meet other local parents who are going through the same stage of life.
But the truth is, that kind of antenatal course isn’t the right fit for everyone.
If you’re pregnant in Peterborough and thinking about antenatal preparation, you might find that what you really want is something a little more flexible or personalised.
Sometimes you just want a bit of extra support around one thing, a chance to ask some questions, or a more relaxed space to talk things through.
That’s why I now offer one-to-one and bespoke antenatal support alongside my group antenatal and hypnobirthing classes.
Maybe You’re Not a Big Group Person
Some people absolutely love the social side of antenatal classes. Others… not so much.
If you’re someone who feels a bit awkward in group settings, or just prefers learning in a quieter space where you can ask questions freely, a private antenatal session might feel much more comfortable.
It’s just you (and your birth partner if you’d like them there) and we can focus entirely on what would be most helpful for you.
Maybe This Isn’t Your First Baby
Second-time parents often say something like:
“I don’t really need a full antenatal course again… but I wouldn’t mind a bit of a refresher.”
That’s completely fair.
Maybe you’d like to revisit birth preparation, talk about feeding your baby, or chat about how things might feel different this time round.
A one-to-one antenatal session can be a really nice way to refresh your knowledge and feel confident before welcoming another baby into your family.—
Maybe Pregnancy Has Just Flown By
Pregnancy has a habit of doing this.
You start off thinking you’ve got loads of time… and then suddenly you’re well into the third trimester and wondering if you should have booked some antenatal preparation.
The good news is it’s never too late.
Even a single antenatal “power hour” can help you understand your options for birth, talk through any worries, and feel much calmer about what’s ahead.—
Maybe Your Friends Are Pregnant Too
Sometimes whole friendship groups (or workplaces!) seem to end up pregnant at the same time.
If that’s the case, you’re very welcome to organise a small private antenatal session together.
You can arrange the group and a venue that works for you, and I can come along and deliver a tailored antenatal or hypnobirthing session based on what you’d like to cover.
It can actually be a really fun and relaxed way to prepare for birth together.—
Maybe You Just Want Help With One Thing
Sometimes you don’t need a whole course — you just want to understand one particular topic a bit better.
That might be:
• antenatal breastfeeding preparation
• writing your birth preferences
• understanding your options if induction has been mentioned
• getting ready for the early days with a newborn
Having a focused session can give you the space to ask questions and leave feeling much clearer and more confident.
Or Maybe You’ve Left a Midwife Appointment Feeling a Bit Confused
This happens more often than you might think.
You go into an appointment expecting a quick check-up, and suddenly you’re being asked to make decisions about things you hadn’t really thought about yet.
If you ever leave an appointment feeling a bit unsure or overwhelmed, a one-to-one antenatal session can give you the space to talk things through in a calm and supportive environment so you feel more informed about your choices.—
